This list will help you when placing bets on the horses at the race by clueing you in on some basic "need-to-know" terms.
Betting to win-This means that you are betting on a particular horse to win the race. That is come in first place.
Betting to place- This means that you are betting that a particular horse will come in either first or second place.
Betting to show- This means that you are betting that a particular horse will come in first, second or third.
Exacta or Perfecta- This means that you are betting on two particular horses, one to come in first place and the other to come in second place in that order. In other words, you are picking which horse will win first place and which will win second place horse.
Quinella or Quiniela- this means that you are again betting on the first and second place winner, but this time they can come in either order, as long as the two that were picked win both first and second place.
